Texarkana's Dress Barn slated to close this month

Dress Barn in Texarkana is among 25 locations that will close this month, according to the company's website.

It is the only Texas closing on the list for the month, with others in Branson and Springfield, Mo.; Wichita, Kan.; and Tulsa, Okla.

The company recently listed the Texarkana location in its first round of closures. An additional three stores are slated for closure next month in Arizona and Kentucky.

Ultimately, the company will close all of its approximately 650 locations.

The female-founded company's first store opened in Stamford, Conn., in 1962, according to its website.

A letter announcing the closure to its loyal customers states, "For more than 50 years, we have been proud to be your go-to fashion destination, providing a great selection at tremendous value. From working women to mothers on the go, we have been there for our customers for their everyday needs as well as their most special occasions."

In 2009, maurice's opened a location in Central Mall. At that time, ascena retail group owned maurice's and Dress Barn.

maurice's closed its Texarkana location a few years ago. In March of this year, ascena retail group sold its majority stake in maurice's.
