L-E band takes top ratings, sweepstakes award at UIL contest

The Liberty-Eylau High School Band earned first division ratings in both stage and sight reading at the UIL Concert Band contest.

This accomplishment, along with its first division ratings in marching band, earned L-EHS the Grand Sweepstakes award-its first since 1999.

"This is an exceptional group of talented musicians," L-EHS Band Director Stephanie Nelson said. "We have a high-quality program and I am glad to see my students get the recognition they deserve."

Band members are now preparing for the State Solo and Ensemble contest in June. Fifty-four members of the band earned superior ratings to advance to the state contest.
