Police department will host shooter courses

The Texarkana, Ark., Police Department will host several advanced active shooter courses during the summer months of 2019.

These courses range from active shooter response, exterior response, integrated response, and the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training newest course on training the trainer.

These courses are free for the user and are open to a wide range of professions including law enforcement, school security, fire, EMS, and emergency communications, according to information from TAPD.

Courses include:

 

  •  Active Shooter level one on June 1-3.

Focus will be shooting on the move, threshold evaluation, concept and principles of team movements, setting up for room entry techniques, approach and breaching the crisis site, secondary responder tactics, improvised explosive devices, and post engagement priorities of work.

  •  Exterior Response to Active Shooter Events on June 17-19 and on July 1-3.

Focus will be equipment selection, vehicle ambushes, medical emergencies, vehicle and dismounted officer/citizen down rescue, individual/team movements, and emergency vehicle crisis response

  •  Active Attack Integrated Response on July 15 and 16.

Focus will be priorities of work for law enforcement, fire, medical services, and emergency communications when responding to active attack events.

  • Civilian Response and casualty Care Train the Trainer on Aug.26 and 27.
