This photo was captured with a method called "panning," where the photographer slows down the shutter speed and moves the camera with the subject as it moves to create a sense of motion within the photograph. As the exposure was being made for this image, another photographer's flash fired and was captured that resulted in the horse and rider being outlined with light.
