A new ladder truck and two new pumper trucks will be on display during a Texarkana, Ark., Fire Department open house.

The public is invited to come have a look at the new equipment, Training Chief William Smith said.

The open house takes place 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Fire Station One, 416 E. Third St., adjacent to City Hall in the Municipal Building.

More than a year ago, the city Board of Directors approved issuing $1.5 million in bonds to pay for the new trucks.

The long wait was expected because the manufacturer, Pierce Manufacturing of Appleton, Wis., custom builds each of its trucks to fire departments' specifications.
