At Bailey Creek Health & Rehab, the nursing center's caring, professional staff dedicate themselves to serving residents with the best possible care, whether residents are there for a short spell or long term.
In fact, the Arkansas-side Bailey Creek's mission statement emphasizes its commitment to bringing top healthcare to the residents served.
"It is our goal to provide the highest quality of healthcare services and the greatest variety of healthcare options to the residents of this community which we serve. These services reflect the ever-changing needs of our residents and their families. It is our goal to achieve the highest quality of life possible for our residents."
Sheila Milam serves as administrator for Bailey Creek, a 115-bed nursing facility that offers an array of services to meet an array of community needs.
"We have an excellent therapy department that offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. We do a lot of short-term stays to home. Come in, you get therapy, you return home," Milam said. "Then of course we also do long-term care. We also do hospice care, and we do respite short stay to give caregivers just a break sometimes because it's a little stressful for caring for a loved one at home."
With some CNAs having worked here 20-plus years, staff longevity sets Bailey Creek apart.
"The longevity is a huge piece of it. Everybody is treated as family," Milam said. "This is just kind of like our second family, home away from home." Staff treat others as they'd want to be treated.
For short-term stays, Bailey Creek will help residents get back to where they were. For long-term stays, there's an excellent, hands-on activity department.
Church services are popular. Holidays provide festive celebrations, including a time to come together and eat. Community volunteers help residents maintain a high quality of life.
"We dearly love our volunteers," Milam said. They add a little ray of sunshine to residents' lives. Bingo is a big hit.
Bailey Creek has a beauty shop so both ladies and gentlemen can look their best. "Just like they did when they were living at home," Milam said.
Many activities involve family, such as Muffins with Mom on Mother's Day. "The more the families are involved in a resident's life, the more progress they're going to make," Milam said.
Moving around helps physically, but socializing provides positives for a resident's mental state. "It keeps them happy, it keeps them enjoying everything," Milam said. At Bailey Creek, staff encourage these activities as part of resident care.
A treatment nurse is on staff to handle wound care. Services are Medicaid and Medicare certified, plus private pay, private insurance and managed care insurance. "We work with just about anything that's out there to try to help someone get the services that they need," Milam said.
"Our main thing is, we want to do for our residents and their families what they want. If their goal is for that loved one to go home, we're going to aggressively hit that therapy on the day that they come in the door," Milam said.
And if care needs to be long-term, Bailey Creek will effectively transition a resident so families rest assured their loved one is being taken care of with top quality care.
