More than a half-century since its founding, Texarkana's hometown bank is building on its rich history and moving into the future.

Commercial National Bank-Texarkana's only locally owned and operated bank-began in 1964 as "The People's Bank" and has continued to focus on personal connections while evolving to meet every need, CEO Philip K. Mobley said.

Mobley is grandson of George W. Peck, who co-founded Commercial National, and son of Julia Peck Mobley, who led it for 30 years.

"We are a true relationship-based bank," he said.

The experience is different from what's typical at retail-oriented, national-brand banks focused on charging customers fees.

"The big banks come and go, and unlike those banks, we don't put our customers in a box, we expand the box to meet their needs," Mobley said.

The bank is versatile, too, able to handle the smallest accounts, multimillion-dollar business loans and everything between.

"We handle every aspect of a customer's banking needs," Mobley said.

That flexibility extends to technology. Whether customers want the latest in online and smartphone banking, the latest in business cash management, or they would rather simply talk to someone, Commercial National is ready to accommodate them.

Soon CNB's newest branch location will be opening. The State Line Avenue branch is relocating to 4601 W. Seventh St., near the intersection with Interstate 369, opening May 20. And the Arkansas Boulevard branch is undergoing renovation to make it more customer-friendly.

Regardless of changes the future may bring-including predicted growth in the region's economy-Commercial National has the culture and experienced staff to continue serving Texarkana.

"Whether you're a business owner or individual, we provide great value and service to our customers," Mobley said, "and if you aren't a current customer, you should come see why we have been trusted as 'Texarkana's Community Bank' for more than 50 years."
