TEXARKANA, Texas - Police are investigating the early-morning death of a Texas-side man struck by a vehicle on Jarvis Parkway/Interstate 369.
No charges are expected to be filed in the death of Charles French, 41, according to a Texarkana, Texas, Police Department news release.
Around 5:50 a.m. Thursday, French stopped the vehicle he was driving on southbound Jarvis to retrieve an item that had fallen off. He walked several hundred yards back, looking for the item in the roadway. A southbound vehicle driven by Jeffrey Anderson, 55, of Woodlands, Texas, struck French, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police diverted southbound traffic on Jarvis to the service road for about 90 minutes while they investigated the incident.
