Hope police make arrest in rape case | Suspect also faces charge of aggravated residential burglary

HOPE, Ark. - Police have arrested a suspect in a rape and aggravated residential burglary case that happened in October.

Randy L. Williams, 36, was arrested Friday morning, according to a news release from the Hope Police Department.

Williams was arrested on charges of rape and aggravated residential burglary. The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation into an incident that occurred on Oct. 9, in the area of South Johnson Street, in Hope.

Williams was arrested in the 1300 block of West Avenue D and taken to the Hempstead County jail where he is being held for a first appearance.

At 6 a.m. on Oct. 9, officers responded to the report of a rape that had just occurred in the area of South Johnson Street.

The female victim told police that between the hours of 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m., she awoke to a man inside her home and that he raped her. Hope Police detectives collected evidence at the scene and the investigation has remained ongoing.
