Construction to continue on school after weather delays

TEXARKANA, Texas - Pleasant Grove Independent School District's Margaret Fischer Davis Elementary School project is getting back on track following periodic showers.

During PGISD's Board of Trustees' regular meeting Monday, two officials with Nabhoz Construction told board members that the company is now back to work trying to catch up on putting together the school's actual vertical structural metal framework for the pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms as well as the first-grade classrooms.

Both men also said work will continue into Thanksgiving week to bring up the vertical structural for the building's cafeteria.

They added that the entire $14.4 million project is still slated for completion in July of next year.

Superintendent Chad Pirtle delivered an attendance report showing that district's elementary school came in at 97.1, with the intermediate school coming in at 97.5, followed by the middle school's 97.4 and the high school with 97.1.

In other business, Derick Sibley, the district's finance director, delivered a report showing that the district has $20.8 million in estimated revenue in general fund. He added that its overall cash position stands at $30.9 million counting all its bank accounts and
investments.

Regarding the district's 2019-20 fiscal year operations and maintenance budget, Sibley said about 18% of the $19.3 million is
spent.
