Physical therapist program receives five-year accreditation

De QUEEN, Ark. - The University of Arkansas Cossatot's Physical Therapist Assistant program has been granted accreditation for an initial five-year
length.

The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education granted the accreditation effective Oct. 29 following a comprehensive self-study and on-site visit conducted in the spring of 2019.

"Accreditation is extremely important as it ensures the educational quality our students receive," said Jennifer Sanderson, PTA program director. "We are excited to see our program grow and flourish."

Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited program is required for graduates to sit for the national examination.

The program boasts a comprehensive curriculum and recently graduated their first cohort in August 2019, while matriculating a second cohort with an anticipated graduation in August 2020. Applications for admission into the 2020-21 program open Dec. 1, 2019. Program information and link to the application can be found at cccua.edu/programs-of-study/medical-education.
