Texarkana police: Suspect arrested after car chase, pursuit

A suspect wanted on an aggravated robbery charge was arrested Tuesday after he fled from police and hit a truck on North State Line Avenue.

Tyrone Owens was arrested by Texarkana, Texas, Police on charges of aggravated robbery along with felony evading in a vehicle, according to TTPD. Owens has been booked into the Bi-State jail. Additional charges may be filed against him in Arkansas.

A TTPD officer recognized Owens driving in his Jeep Compass on Tuesday afternoon. He was wanted for aggravated robbery in Arkansas and fled after an officer recognized him driving down the road. The ensuing pursuit wound up going on both sides of the state line, before police made the decision to end the pursuit because of how dangerously he was driving.

However, Owens allegedly continued to drive at a high rate of speed. A couple of minutes later is when he ran the red light at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and hit a truck.

Owens was quickly taken into custody after a short foot chase with police.

The people in the truck he hit were not hurt in the crash.
