Gregg Orr Auto, based in Texarkana and with outlets in several other towns, is opening a collision and bodywork center in Texarkana as well as a facility for servicing marine and recreational vehicles. The construction has began on a plot of land near Golden Corral.
"This is going to be a beautiful building," said Blaire Harp, corporate marketing and public relations director for Gregg Orr Auto. "This will be a fully functioning body shop for all makes and models of cars."
The facility, which broke ground a couple of months ago, is expected to be open for business early next year. It will be a normal body shop that services any car, truck or the like from anywhere.
"Gregg Orr Auto has been in the collision and bodywork business for about five years in several of our markets," said Harp. "They are all doing well and we decided to bring it here, our home market. We will be the only new car dealership that offers this sort of work in this market."
Gregg Orr Auto has also recently broke ground on another plot of land nearby, with another facility just beginning construction.
This will be a facility intended to service recreational vehicles as well
as boats.
"We just started on that one," Harp said. "This one will probably open around mid to late 2020, thereabouts. We want a nice place for our marine and RV customers to get service, as well as a nice place for our technicians to work. But, like our body shop, customers can bring us any RV or boat from any dealership for us to work on. That vehicle does not have to have been bought from us."
