TEXARKANA, Ark. - Two Texarkana area men are in jail in relation to a car crash into the bedroom of an Arkansas-side home early Friday morning.

Cleophus Ross, 36, sent his maroon Chrysler careening into the bedroom of a woman's brick home at about 4 a.m. in the 100 block of East 19th Street, said Lt. Zach White of the Texarkana, Arkansas, Police Department's Services Division.

Neither Ross nor the homeowner apparently sustained any injuries. However, police arrested Ross as he allegedly attempted to flee from the scene on foot.

Besides being apprehended on a misdemeanor charge of attempting to flee the scene of an accident, police also charged him with felony fleeing in a vehicle, as well as refusal to identify himself to police.

As it turns out, Ross may also face an additional felony fleeing charge from Texarkana, Texas, police.

The crash apparently stemmed from an earlier attempt to flee Texas-side police officers, according to White.

Texas-side police attempted to stop Ross' vehicle near the River Crossing Apartments in the 1000 block of College Drive, in relation to a criminal mischief incident.

Texas-side Public Information Officer Shawn Vaughn said the department received a call regarding a criminal mischief incident where a suspect, identified as Charles Scott, appeared to be vandalizing a vehicle in or near the apartment complex's parking area.

Vaughn said that while police were in the process of arresting Scott, they noticed Ross' maroon color Chrysler moving suspiciously slowly around the apartment area, as if searching for Scott in an attempt to try to give him a ride.

When police tried to stop Ross' car on College Drive, the vehicle sped toward State Line Avenue and out of the area.

Vaughn confirmed that the Texas-side has issued an evading detention arrest warrant for Ross.
