Man faces three counts of negligent homicide in fatal crash of Cass County school teacher and her family

DE QUEEN, Ark. - A Texas man has been charged with three counts of negligent homicide for allegedly driving while intoxicated and causing an accident Saturday that killed a Horatio, Arkansas, couple and one of their young daughters.

Justin Williams, 25, of Abilene, Texas, also faces one count of first-degree battery, according to information from the Ninth Judicial West Prosecuting Attorney's Office. The Ninth Judicial West includes Sevier, Little River, Howard and Pike counties in Southwest Arkansas.

The case will be prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Erin Hunter in the Ninth West Judicial Circuit before Judge Charles Yeargan.

Jessica Baig, 32; Mirza Baig, 35; and their young daughter were all pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Another young daughter was seriously injured and taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Jessica Baig was a teacher at McLeod Independent School District in Cass County.

McLeod is about 15 miles southeast of Atlanta, Texas.

She had also previously been a teacher at Legacy Academy in De Queen, Arkansas.

Williams was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram truck that crossed the center line at 4:20 p.m. Saturday on state Highway 41 and collided with the Horatio, Ark., family's 2013 Buick Enclave, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Horatio is about 53 miles northwest of Texarkana.

The collision caused the Enclave to overturn several times before coming to a final resting place upright, according to the report.
