TAPD kicks off No Shave November

TEXARKANA, Ark. - Arkansas-side police are raising funds for Shop with a Cop by putting down their razors for No Shave November.

Twenty-eight TAPD officers are tossing their razors in an effort to raise money for the cause, according to information from the department. Shop with a Cop is a charity event the department has supported for 30 years that raises money to provide Christmas for disadvantaged families in the Texarkana area.

Officers have begun growing their beards and looking for sponsors. So far, each officer has supported more than 30 children by providing $150.00 to compete, but there is more work to be done. Texarkana residents can help the department reach its goal of 100 children by sponsoring an officer. No donation is too small, and a sponsorship is easy.

The team at Pawn Express has always set the example when it comes to majestic beards, and they have issued a challenge to the 28 competitors. They are offering the officer with the best beard - voted on by citizens - a Glock 19X pistol, and the officer with the most sponsors will win a $250 gift certificate.

Anyone interested in sponsoring an officer can contact Sgt. Kristi Bennett at 903-824-4199 or at [email protected] or their chosen competitor and they will provide all the details needed.

Voting runs through the end of November.

Updates on the officers will be on the TAPD Facebook page.
