Community yard sale postponed | Bark at the Park, electronics recycling still on

TEXARKANA, Texas - Because of muddy conditions caused by today's rain, the community yard sale scheduled for Saturday at Spring Lake Park has been postponed a week.

The yard sale has been rescheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 2, according to a news release from the city. Two other events at the park will still happen Saturday. Both the city's semiannual electronics recycling drive and Bark at the Park will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

UNICOR will be available to accept recyclable electronics. The following items will not be accepted: acids; CRTs or tube TVs; film, photos or X-rays; furniture or file cabinets; household appliances; magnetic tapes of any kind; microwave ovens; oil- or PCB-containing devices; paints or other liquids of any kind; radioactive materials such as ion scanners; and refrigerants.

The third annual Bark in the Park event will be at the Kylee Sullivan Dog Park in Spring Lake Park. Any dog or cat can get a free rabies vaccination, and Texarkana residents can get free city pet licenses. A veterinarian will offer other vaccinations and microchipping for a fee.

Attendees can learn more about pet services available in Texarkana. Donations will be accepted to help fund future pet-oriented community activities.
