VIDEO | Texarkana area could see heavy rainfall from Imelda

Heavy rainfall associated with the remnants of Tropical Depression Imelda is looking increasingly likely for the Texarkana area this week.

The National Weather Service is predicting the area to get between 1-2 inches of rain up to Friday night. Parts of the region could see anywhere from 2-4 inches of rainfall.

The heavy rains could also produce flash flooding across the region, according to the NWS.

NO SEVERE IMPACTS FROM IMELDA AS OF YET

Imelda has deluged parts of Southeast Texas with more than 12 inches of rain, but officials in Houston and surrounding communities said Wednesday that so far there have been no severe impacts from the tropical depression.

Imelda, which formed Tuesday, made landfall near Freeport, Texas, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

The National Hurricane Center said Imelda had weakened to a tropical depression and was located about 65 miles north of Houston.
