Officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of State Line Avenue on the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds. One had been shot in the chest and the other in the back and arm.

The officers provided emergency aid until EMS arrived. Both men were taken to area hospitals. Two men were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. One was reported to be in critical condition and the other in stable condition. Both are expected to recover, Vaughn said.

Detectives obtained warrants for Gardner later that morning.

Police determined the shooting was a continuation of an altercation that began in Texarkana, Ark. A brief fight occurred in the Waffle House parking lot after some of those involved in the earlier altercation pulled into the parking lot. Police believe this ultimately led to Gardner allegedly pulling out a gun and firing several shots at the two men, officials said.
