TEXARKANA, Texas — A light agenda for Monday's meeting of the City Council features votes on a nomination and a reappointment.

The Council will vote on nominating a representative to the Bowie Central Appraisal District and on reappointing Gerald Brooks to the city Civil Service Commission.

The city nominates a director to serve with BCAD, which appraises property for tax purposes, in odd-numbered years. The governing boards of all of BCAD's taxing entities, including many Bowie County school districts and cities, then vote on the nominee. Ward 6 Council Member Josh Davis currently represents the city on the BCAD board.

Because Brooks has been tapped to serve on the Civil Service Commission for a fourth three-year term, by state law the Council must approve his reappointment with a two-thirds majority vote.

The agenda includes a public forum during which members of the public may address the Council on any topic for up to five minutes each.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 220 Texas Blvd.
