Sheriff's Office hopes evidence found in Shreveport police car leads to arrest

TEXARKANA, Texas - The Bowie County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the discovery of a Shreveport, Louisiana, police car found on a county road north of Texarkana.

A call about a suspicious vehicle in Bowie County on Sept. 10 turned out to be a patrol unit registered to the city of Shreveport, said BCSO Capt. Robby McCarver.

"We processed it before it was released and have some evidence that will hopefully lead to a suspect," McCarver said. "It's kind of an unusual case," he said.

The white Crown Victoria was found on Bowie County Road 2302 and had been at the location for a while, McCarver said.

The vehicle's doors and trunk were open.

The vehicle had been dismantled and was missing equipment such as the police lights. A Shreveport Police Department-issued computer was also missing from the vehicle, McCarver said.

The car had not been reported stolen prior to the discovery, McCarver said.
