Four new Miller County coronavirus cases | Eight in Bowie

The confirmed number of coronavirus cases rose in both Bowie County, Texas, and Miller County, Arkansas, from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Bowie County's cumulative case count increased by eight, from 332 to 340, according to the local emergency Joint Operations Center. Twenty-six Bowie County patients have died of COVID-19.

"Due to the recent surge of numbers in Bowie County, efforts have been focused on tracing active cases and we are in the process of updating the number of recoveries," a JOC media briefing stated Wednesday.

Cass County, Texas' case count held at 57, with 39 recoveries and three deaths, according to the JOC.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Titus County's tally rose from 842 to 843, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Morris County's count was unchanged at 49 and Red River County's at 117.

In Southwest Arkansas, case counts rose in five of eight counties, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Miller County added four cases to reach 232.

Pike County's tally increased from 10 to 11, Hempstead County's from 64 to 65, Howard County's from 102 to 106, and Sevier County's from 748 to 758.

Lafayette County held at 22 cases, Little River County at 40 and Nevada County at 104.

Caddo Parish in Northwest Louisiana added 111 cases from Tuesday to Wednesday, for a total of 3,946, and Bossier Parish added 43 cases to reach 1,142, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 24,512 cumulative cases with 301 deaths, Louisiana reported 70,151 cases with 3,231 deaths, and Texas reported 220,564 cases with 2,813 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 2,982,900 total cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 131,065.
