Woman believed responsible for year-long series of thefts

HURST, Texas-Authorities in North Texas are looking for a woman they believe has been stealing from offices and businesses for a year.

Police in Hurst said Thursday the woman walks into the business during the day, asks workers for money and then acts as if she's leaving. Instead, she wanders through the place and snatches purses or wallets, then quickly uses stolen credit cards to buy merchandise.

Detective Ryan Rider tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram the woman hit a church in June and is believed to have stolen from an animal clinic this week. Surveillance photos show the woman moments later leaving a convenience store after buying boxes of beer and soft drinks.

Similar thefts have been reported in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Bedford, Grapevine, Keller and Denton.
