San Antonio man resisting arrest dies after police struggle

SAN ANTONIO-San Antonio police say a man who was hit with an electronic stun gun while resisting arrest has died.

Police say family members called for help after 41-year-old Ernesto Carman was throwing items and causing a disturbance early Saturday at home. The San Antonio Express-News reports officers were placing him in handcuffs when he resisted and tried to punch one of the officers, who then fired his electronic shock weapon.

According to a preliminary police report, the shock had no effect, the struggle continued and officers finally were able to subdue Carman.

An emergency medical crew arrived and found Carman unconscious but breathing. He was placed in an ambulance where he died.
