Enter the front door of Taquitas Plus on 3015 Texas Blvd. and you will likely find David Langley, the owner and only worker, waiting behind a counter to take your order.
The large menu on the wall has varieties of taquitas, salsa and other Mexican cuisine to be taken home and heated.
"When I started a business here locally, I was initially in a street-side stand next to Domino's Pizza. Hot or cold, rain or shine, I was there. Over time, I developed quite a customer base, and eventually decided to go indoors at this location and offer my goods here," Langley said.
Taquitas Plus is not a restaurant but an extension of Langley's stand, with prepared foods and a full commercial kitchen where everything is prepared. He offers samples of salsa in exotic mixtures, takes orders in advance and even caters.
"After a stint on the pro golf tour, I opened and ran a series of restaurants in Dallas, as well as a business where I produced taquitas. Grocery stores in the city sold my goods. I make real Mexican food, not Tex-Mex," he said. "My Plano restaurant is where I developed my goods."
Taquitas Plus has been open for business for about a week. Langley's old customers from his stand on Richmond Road have followed him here, and new customers are discovering the shop.
It is open Thursday through Saturday for purchase or pickup. He is sometimes open on the off days but with limited offerings.
