NEW BOSTON, Texas—Charles Stubbs, 97, of New Boston died Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, in a local hospital. Mr. Stubbs was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Boswell, Okla. He was retired from Red River Army Depot, a Freemason, a member of Tapp United Methodist Church and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Carver. Survivors include his wife, Lavern Stubbs of New Boston; three sons, Barry Caver of Houston, Brian Stubbs of New Boston and Bret Stubbs of Hot Springs, Ark.; three sisters, Corene Wallace, Bonnie Ternahan and Mattie Payne; two brothers, John Stubbs and Joe Stubbs; four grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Tapp United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Earl Burton officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Ringwood Cemetery under direction of Bates-Rolf Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the church.
