DeKALB, Texas—Dwight Wood Jr., 54, of DeKalb died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, in a Texarkana, Texas, hospital. Mr. Wood was born May 8, 1961, in Texarkana, Texas. He was a former accountant in medical records at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, and a funeral director. He also was a member of Bowie County Singing Convention, DeKalb ISD School Board, DeKalb Oktoberfest Committee and First Baptist Church, DeKalb. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Lauren Louise Wood of DeKalb and Shannon and Jeff Wright of Texarkana, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Angela Thompson of Redwater, Texas; his mother, Billie Waters Wood of DeKalb; one sister and brother-in-law, Alyce Kathryn and Dan Stewart of Lucas, Texas; one brother, John Hal Wood of Fort Worth, Texas; his former wife, Sandra May Wood of DeKalb; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, DeKalb, with the Rev. Tom Edwards, Joni Haldeman and Charlie Haldeman officiating. Burial will be in Woodmen Cemetery under direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Online registration is at batesfamilyfuneralhome.com.
