FRED WASHINGTON

Fred Eugene Washington, 74, of Texarkana died Thursday, May 19, 2016, in a local nursing home. Mr. Washington was born April 7, 1942, in Cass County, Texas. He was formerly employed with Sands Motel, GTE Telephone Co. and Celotex Corp., and he was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Parker and Andreas Austin; and one daughter, Sandra Henderson. Survivors include two sons, Donny Williams and Fredrick Washington of Texarkana; three daughters, Debra Washington Goodnight and Linda Parker of Texarkana and Carzet Preston of Dallas; four sisters, Evelyn Mays of Arlington, Texas, and Marie Washington, Joyce Biddle and Tonya Washington Brewster of Texarkana; one brother, Bobby Washington of Texarkana; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. T.J. Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under direction of Haynes Mortuary.
