MARK EAKIN

VIVIAN, La.—Mark Eakin, 58, formerly of Texarkana, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Mr. Eakin was born June 7, 1957. He was a pastor, co-founder of Dierksen Memorial Hospice and employed with Trinity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, James Mark "Marcus" Eakin Jr. Survivors include his wife, Milda Marie Eakin; one son, Michael Eakin of Vivian; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Diane Eakin of Shreveport, La., Bill and Laurie Eakin of Tulsa, Okla., and Tom and Sherri Eakin of Euless, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Johnie Wise of Shreveport; one grandson; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Heights Baptist Church, Shreveport, with Bill Saxby officiating. Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery, Vivian, under direction of Gorsulowsky Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
