YVONNE GILKEY

Yvonne Adeen Brigman Gilkey, 84, of Texarkana, Ark., died Thursday, May 19, 2016, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Gilkey was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Atlanta. She was a retired education associate professor, a member of Los Amigos Club, Loyal Ladies of the Golden Circle, Eastern Star, Young Matrons & Young Men Council and Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, William H. Gilkey of Texarkana; one daughter, Deneise Barrett of Plano, Texas; one brother, Arnold Brigman of Sunnyvale, Calif.; one granddaughter, Felicia Birmingham of Plano; one great-grandson, Quinton Williamson of Plano; five nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Mandeville, Ark., with the Rev. Christopher Collins Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of Lyles Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Online registration is atlylesfuneralhomeinc.com.
