Claris Eugene Wood

Claris Eugene "C.E." Wood, age 81 went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 22, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. C.E. was born November 8, 1934, in Chambers County, Alabama to Daniel and Luna Wood. He was retired from Hot Shot Express, a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed spending time tinkering with small engines, gardening and poetry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Wood; son, Ronald M. Wood; parents Daninel and Luna Wood; brothers, James W. Wood, Joseph Dewey Wood, Albert J. Wood, Curtis Franklin Wood; sisters, Nicie Narcey Melton, Nora Lee Dees, Jeanie May Davis and Dorothy I. Stanfield. He is survived by three sons, Thomas E. Wood and wife Judy of Fortville, Indiana, Roy D. Wood and wife Barbara of Huntsville, Texas, Mike T. Wood of Atlanta, Texas; daughter, Tammy Bell and husband Danny of Atlanta, Texas; nine grandchildren, Crystal Baker, Andrea Chaffin, Andrew Wood, Nicholas Wood, Patricia Wood, William Dees, Jacqueline McHolland, Earl Bell, Daniel Bell; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Smyrna Baptist Church under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Bro. Gene Parker officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Guest registry is available at www.hannerfuneralservice.com.
