Doyle G. Bice

Doyle G. Bice, age 80, of Rockwall, TX, passed away September 25, 2016. He was born October 31, 1935, in Simms, TX, to Walter Bice and Gladys (McElwee) Bice. Mr. Bice served his country in the Texas National Guard and Reserve for six years and was honorably discharged in 1961. He was a Dallas Police Officer for 24 years and he served as Vice President and Treasurer for the Retired Policeman's Association. After retirement, Mr. Bice attended SMU and was certified as a legal assistant. He worked for both the Attorney General's Office and as a Deputy Sheriff and Legal Assistant for Dallas County. Mr. Bice was an avid Oklahoma University football fan and enjoyed owning four race horses. He is survived by his brother: Don Bice and wife Susan of Spicewood, TX; sister: Judy Griffin and husband Ross of Altanta, TX; three nieces: Kathryn Ashwander and husband Alan of Atlanta, Leslie Griffin-Clark and husband Michael of Rockwall and Debbie Peterson of Medina, TX; three great nephews and one great niece; and special friend: Janette Manuel of Applegate, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be held 3:00pm Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Old Union Cemetery, Simms, TX 75574 with Dr. John Wilkey officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rockwall Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
