DE QUEEN, Ark.—Bryant York "B.Y." Gardner, 89, of De Queen died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, in a Hot Springs, Ark., hospital. Mr. Gardner was born Feb. 12, 1928 in High Point, N.C. He was retired from the Navy, a private pilot, a firefighter with the Dallas Naval Air Station, proprietor of Gardner Mobile Home Park, De Queen, and an Army, Marines and Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Joyce Gardner; and one daughter, Andrea Suzanne Gardner. Survivors include one daughter, Angela "Anji" Gardner of Hot Springs, Ark.; one brother-in-law, Ray Cromer of Flint, Texas; four granddaughters, Angelique Brook, Shelley Brook, Brittany Brook and Rikki Brook; four great-grandchildren, Sidnee, Bella, Blaine and Maggie; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Chandler Funeral Home with Jason Carlton officiating. Burial will be in the Avon Cemetery, De Queen. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
