Leon Lewis, 67, of Ashdown, Ark., died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, in an Ashdown hospital. Mr. Lewis was born Jan. 15, 1950, in Bearden, Ark. He was retired from Domtar International Papermill and Lyles Funeral Home, former Supreme Tyler of International masons, Past Grand Master of Arkansas, Gulf Coast National District Grand Master, Patron for Ruth Chapter No. 3, Joint Council President of Arkansas, Worship Master of L.F. Henderson Lodge No. 1, a member of International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Order of the Eastern Star, LRCTSAA Board and Rhodes Board and an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Emma Jean Lewis; two sons, Lamont Lewis of Rogers, Ark., and Kenneth Lewis of Ashdown; one daughter, Myeshia Lewis of Little Rock; six brothers, Calvin Lewis, James Lewis and Horace Lewis of Ashdown, Ivor of Jacksonville, Fla., Alvin Lambert of Kansas City, Mo., and Barkley Lambert of Gurdon, Ark.; four sisters, Shirley Ann Scroggins of Phoenix, Ariz., Marie Lewis of Tamarac, Fla., LaSha Lewis of Ashdown and Shelia of Rockford, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Closed casket services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Community Freewill Baptist Church, Ashdown, with the Rev. Clarence Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Rhodes Cemetery, Ashdown, under direction of Lyles Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at Craig Chapel AME Church, Ashdown, and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Community Freewill Church. Online registration is at lylesfuneralhomeinc.com.
