James L. "Percy" Purifoy of Texarkana, Arkansas passed away Friday, February 17, 2017, his ninety third birthday. Percy was born in Camden, Arkansas, February 17, 1924 to Roy and Susie Ellis Purifoy. He attended Camden Schools and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps and retired from Chevron Oil Corporation in 1984. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Texarkana Arkansas, and a member of the New Covenant Sunday School Class. He was a former Boy Scout Troop Master of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Bette Dalhoff Purifoy, parents and brothers Winston Purifoy, Raymond Purifoy, and Alton Purifoy. Percy is survived by his nieces Ann Burnside and husband Bob of Little Rock and Connie Reddin and husband Steve of Maumelle; nephews, Win Purifoy of Dallas, TX and Steve Purifoy of Hot Springs; and special friends, Dennis and Junie Young. Graveside services will be 2:30 P.M. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Bennett officiating under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.
