James Barry Whittenburg, 75, of Texarkana, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, in a local hospice. Mr. Whittenburg was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was retired from Red River Army Depot, employed with Southwest Arkansas Development Council, a member of Beech Street First Baptist Church and an Army National Guard veteran. Survivors include his wife, Maureen Ward Whittenburg of Texarkana; two daughters, Lisa Graves of Texarkana and Lori Whittenburg of Fouke, Ark.; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Ann Whittenburg of Texarkana; one sister, Wanda Howell of Dallas; three grandchildren, Bailey Graves, Kylie Graves, and Landon Graves; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas, with the Rev. Craig Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
