HOT SPRINGS, Ark.—John C. Puckett, 84, of Hot Springs, Ark., died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017. Mr. Puckett was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Prescott, Ark. He was a retired teacher with Hot Springs School District, a member of Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame and a Sunday school teacher and music minister with Visitors Chapel AME Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Moore Puckett of Hot Springs; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and the Rev. Jeff Hampton of Little Rock, Ark.; one son, Stephen Puckett of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Joya Nichelle Hampton of Atlanta, Ga., and Cheyanne Nicole Hampton of South Bend, Ind.; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Visitors Chapel AME Church under direction of Carrigan Memorial Funeral Service. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
