HOPE, Ark.—Alexander "Alex" West Jr., of Hope died recently. Deacon West was born Oct. 21, 1930, in Summerfield, La. He was a mechanic, carpenter, inventor, welder and a deacon, Sunday School teacher and musician with Holy Ghost Temple COGIC, McNab, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Ruth West of Hope; six sons, Alvin West, Larry West and Mark West of Little Rock, David West of Hope, Eugene West of Indiana and Curtis West of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Dorothy "Queen" Porter of Maumelle, Ark., and Joyce Cooper of Kansas City, Mo.; one special friend, Superintendent Floyd Steward; 40 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Holy Ghost Temple COGIC. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Saratoga, Ark., under direction of Hicks Funeral Home. The body may be viewed 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today with visitation 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
