HOPE, Ark.—Helen Marie Atkins Downs, 83, of Hope died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, in Hope. Mrs. Downs was born Sept. 11, 1933, in Spring Hill, Ark. She was a retired Registered Nurse and Licensed Social Worker with Area Agency on Aging and a Sunday School teacher, Ann Born Society president and Hospitality Committee Chairman with St. John United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward Downs of Hope; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Michael R. and Mary Lou Downs and Mitch and Sandie Downs of Hope; one brother, Kennie V. Atkins Jr. of Hope; five grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe Miller and Danny Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
