HOPE, Ark.—Ken Willis, 83, of Washington, Ark., died Saturday, May 27, 2017, in Grapevine, Texas. Mr. Willis was born July 23, 1933, in Murfreesboro, Ark. He was the former owner and operator of The Charcoal Broiler in Denton, Texas; past manager and researcher with Grandy's; and a former member of the Hempstead County, Ark., water board and Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ralph. Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Byers Willis; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ken and Nancy Willis and Terry and Holly Willis; one daughter and son-in-law, Shana and Mark Kimball; a granddaughter, Kayla Willis; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shover Springs Baptist Church with Neal Ridling and Larry Byers officiating. Burial will be in Shover Springs Cemetery under direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department, Shover Springs Cemetery or New Hope Baptist Church.
