VIRGINIA BANKS-JOHNSON

Virginia Ruth Banks-Johnson, 70, of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at a McKinney, Texas, hospital. Mrs. Banks-Johnson was born Oct. 2, 1947, in Texarkana. She was a retired chief deputy tax assessor and a member of Atlanta Street Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Sandra Johnson-Martin and Derek of Texarkana and Tonya Johnson and Monshea Johnson of Plano, Texas; one brother, Willie Casteel of Texarkana; four sisters, Gloria Chatman, Bobbie McKinney, Earma Casteel and Debra Banks of Texarkana; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Atlanta Street Church of Christ with Steve Williams and Lamar Snowden officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of Haynes Mortuary. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Online registration is at haynesmortuary.com.
