Azzie "Bubba" Palmer, 75, of Ashdown, Ark., died Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, in Texarkana, Texas. Mr. Palmer was born June 13, 1942, in Ashdown. He was a laborer with Little River Millworks. Survivors include nine sons, Rusty Russell of Omaha, Neb., Donald Ray Matthews and Terry Matthews of Wilton, Ark., Eric Palmer, Mendoze Palmer and Curtis Palmer of Dallas, Reginald Palmer and Ricky Matthews of Texarkana and Todd Matthews of Ashdown; seven daughters, Dovietta Johnson of Warner Robin, Ga., Brenda Dancer of Wilton, Adrian Vicks and Altra Darnell of Dallas, Jackie Washington of Owasso, Okla., Rosalind Proctor of Oklahoma City and Mary Ann White of Ashdown; nine brothers, Riley Gulley Jr., Percy Gulley, Joe Johnson, Nathaniel Johnson, Obie Riley, Jimmy Riley and Joe English of Ashdown, Roy Turner of Wilton and Larry Holiman of Texarkana; six sisters, Mary Washington, Helen Hunter, Mildred Ruth Trotter and Rhonda Hogan of Ashdown, Mary France Jackson of Atlanta, Ga., and Evelyn Anderson of Baytown, Texas; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Community Freewill Baptist Church, Ashdown, with the Rev. Anthony Nelson officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery under direction of Jones Stuart Mortuary. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the church.
