MAE TURNER

DE QUEEN, Ark.—Mae Velma Smith Turner, 88, of De Queen died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, in a Mena, Ark., hospital. Mrs. Turner was born March 17, 1929, in De Queen. She was a homemaker and a member of the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Turner; two sons, Norman Cecil Turner and Harold Lee Turner Jr.; and one daughter, Mary Belle Elliott. Survivors include one son-in-law, Dannie Elliott of Gate City, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Wanda Smith of Skiatook, Okla.; two sisters, Ruby Mitchell of Denham Springs, La., and Evelyn Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Tammie Renea of Kingsport, Tenn., Daniel Shannon Elliott of Gate City, Va., Amy Lockeby of Little Rock and Renee Olsen of De Queen; one nephew, Ronnie Turner of Lockesburg, Ark.; two great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Valley Cemetery, Gillham, Ark., with Jason Carlton officiating. Burial will be under direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
