NEWMAN LeGRAND

Newman Julius LeGrand, 75, of Wake Village, Texas, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at a local hospice. Mr. LeGrand was owner-operator of LeGrand & Sons Welding and Iron Works and the 2001 recipient of Baylor Small Family Business award. He was a founder and first president of Four States Iron Murchers Blacksmith Association, and a founder and past president of Twin City Noon Lions Club. He was a former member of Texarkana Evening Lions Club and Texarkana Jaycees and a past featured artist with Party with Picassos. Mr. LeGrand was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer LeGrand Dusek. Survivors include his wife, Jewel Allen LeGrand of Wake Village; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Wendy LeGrand and Jerome and Angel LeGrand; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica and David Sturlic and Jane and James Maginot; one sister, Sister Katrina LeGrand; and nine grandchildren. Mass will be 10 a.m. today at St. Edward's Catholic Church with the Rev. James West officiating. Private burial will be at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery.
