ATLANTA, Texas—Vernie C. Chamlee, 94, formerly of Huffines, Texas, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in Houston. Mrs. Chamlee was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Cass County, Texas. She was a Grand Matron of Order of the Eastern Star and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Calvin White and Werner Chamlee. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Margylynn White and James and Dinah White of Houston; one sister and brother-in-law, Jeanetta "Tiny" and Travis Swink of Rodessa, La.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hanner Funeral Service with Tim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Huffines Cemetery. Online registration is at hannerfuneralservice.com.
