Mr. John David Whitehead, age 84, of Genoa, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 19, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Whitehead was born June 19, 1934, in Genoa, Arkansas and had been a lifetime resident. He was a retired carpenter and cement mason. He enjoyed spending his free time reading the Bible and playing guitar. He was a Navy Korean War Veteran and Golden Glove Boxer Pacific Fleet Champion. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Sue Whitehead, and a son, Nathan Whitehead. Survivors include four sons and five daughters-in-law, Mark and Diane Whitehead of Redwater, Texas, Luke and Veronica Whitehead, Jesse and Amanda Whitehead, Walter and Myla Whitehead, and Tonya Whitehead, all of Genoa, Arkansas, one daughter and son-in-law, Rachael and Scotty Scott of Texarkana, Arkansas, three brothers, James Whitehead of Spokane, Washington, Sherrell Whitehead and Floyd Whitehead of Genoa, Arkansas, sixteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A. M. Monday at Shiloh Cemetery with Pastor Darvin Pruitt officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.
