Alvin J. Gay, 82, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, July 5, 2019, in Shreveport, La. The Rev. Gay was born Dec. 29, 1936, in Benton, La. He was former pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, founder and pastor of King Baptist Church, Denver, Colo., a member of Lonoke Baptist Church and an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Debra Hindman Gay of Texarkana; one daughter, Brandi Meshea of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Marques and Tameka Brigham of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Lenora Moore of Shreveport, La., and Theresia Harris of Lincoln, Neb.; two brothers, Wallace Gay of Shreveport and Jean Knighton of Benton, La.; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Lonoke Baptist Church with the Revs. Arthur Hill Sr. and Patrick Rucker officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of Haynes Mortuary. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Online registration is at haynesmortuary.com.
