HOPE, Ark.—Dennis Lee "Hogman" Sims Sr., 72, of Prescott, Ark., died Friday, July 5, 2019, at his home. Mr. Sims was born Dec. 2, 1946, in Bluff City, Ark. He was formerly employed with International Paper, a log cutter and pulpwood hauler and a driver with Johnnie Walter Sand Gravel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthie Sims; and one grandson, Christopher Gulley. Survivors include nine children, Shirley McGill, Melissa Harris, Cora Johnson, Sandra Marks, Ruthie Ingram and Amos Foreman of Prescott, Dennis Sims Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., and Marvin Sims and Carolyn Sims Scott of Texarkana; nine siblings, Clara Brown of Chidester, Ark., Corene Smith and Diane Gentry of Prescott, Janice Bell of Hot Springs, Ark., Clifton Sims of Rockford, Ill., Alonzo Sims of Bluff City, Ark., Danny Sims of Chidester, Ark., Floyd Sims of Guron, Ark.; and Leroy Sims of Arkadelphia, Ark.; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Louis Page and Bishop Larry Hines officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Bluff City, under direction of McFadden & Hitchye Funeral Home. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
