Rita McCOY

Rita Mills McCoy, age 93, of Bryans Mill, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019 in a local hospital. Rita was born March 20, 1926 in Commerce, Texas to Lola and Lacy Mills. Rita was a member at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta, Texas. She was a very accomplished business woman. Rita started her banking career at The Morris County National Bank in Naples. She then served as manager for Peoples State Bank in Marshall, and later transferred to California where she was president of Women's Bank of California. She was then appointed as Chief Financial Officer of the Small Business Administration by President Jimmy Carter. Outside of being a business woman, Rita was past president of the Marshall Garden Club, enjoyed playing bridge, and loved visiting and spending time with her family. Rita was preceded in death by her parents and one step-sister, Patsy Rainey. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Gary Sims of Bryans Mill; three grandchildren, Eric and Sarah Sims of Hughes Springs, Texas, Tiffany and Greg Byers of Hollywood, Maryland, and Paul Sims and Hillary Brown of Jefferson, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Bettye Plunkett of Marietta; one nephew and his wife, Randy and Mary Ann Brock of Marietta and their sons and families; and numerous other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2019 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta with Dr. Chas Carlisle officiating. Interment will follow at Naples Cemetery in Naples.
