David SIMMONS

BENTONVILLE, Ark.—David Barton Simmons formerly of Ashdown, Ark., died Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in Bentonville. Mr. Simmons was born in Ashdown. He was formerly employed by the Republic of Jamaica and the Kingdom of Thailand, a former executive vice president/CEO of National Association of Insurance Commissioners, a former assistant commissioner of insurance with the Arkansas Insurance Department and also an Army veteran. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Amy and Michael Gillespie of Bella Vista, Ark.; one son, Kyle Simmons of Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jean and Buddy Gentry of Ashdown and Jerri Roper of Hot Springs, Ark.; two grandchildren, Evelynn Gillespie and Owen Gillespie of Bella Vista; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Unitarian Universalist Church of Little Rock, Ark. Memorials may be made to ACLU of Arkansas or the Democratic Party of Arkansas.
